(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - A three-alarm fire destroyed a mosque in northeast Kansas City, causing a building to collapse. No injuries were reported.
The fire was reported about 3 a.m. Monday in a three-story building. The mosque was on the bottom floor and the two upper floors were vacant.
Fire battalion chief Joe Vitale says the fire burned from the front to the back of the building. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
When firefighters arrived, the building was filled with smoke. It took a little more than an hour to extinguish the blaze and some hotspots were still being treated hours later.
Vitale says part of the building collapsed and landed on an unattached garage, which caught fire. No other structures were damaged.
